803-CP Invar Kit for Photogrammetry

View Data Sheet

Specifications

The 803-CP is designed as a calibration reference or scaling kit for three-dimensional measuring systems using photogrammetric or related technologies.   They can also be used in the construction of monuments or artifacts for "leapfrogging", providing stable transfer points and retroreflective targets.    Included are four retroreflective targets made specifically for this scale kit.

Invar tubing is great for metrology because it has such a very low coefficient of thermal expansion, which effectively eliminates changes in length due to handling or environmental changes.

The Invar tubing in the 803-CP is manufactured to its stated length within ±0.0001".  In addition, the Invar tubing components are hand-picked for each kit so that the total stackup error does not exceed 0.0005".  This means that you can connect all of the tubes found in a given kit together end-to-end, and the stack will maintain the total length within the stackup error.  (Table below summarizes this information.)  We often recommend the 803-CP when people ask for a calibration or scaling-quality type system.

Individual components may be assembled to produce lengths from 2" to 112", in 5" increments.

Specifications

The 803-MCP is designed as a metric calibration reference or scaling kit for three-dimensional measuring systems such as laser scanners or photogrammetric systems.

The Invar tubing in the 803-MCP is manufactured to its stated length within ±0.003mm.  In addition, the Invar tubing components are hand-picked for each kit so that the total stackup error does not exceed 0.013mm.  This means that you can connect all of the tubes found in a given kit together end-to-end, and the stack will maintain the total length within the stackup error.  We often recommend the 803-MCP when people ask for a metric calibration or scaling-quality system.

Individual components may be assembled to produce reference lengths from  221mm to about 2.84m, in 125mm increments.

8665 Fixed Scale Holder

Specifications

The 8665 Fixed Scale Holder is made to work with our Invar System, providing a mount for optical tooling scales or calibration targets on scale material (like our 564W-CE).  This scale holder is referred to as "fixed" because it does not rotate axially like our 8665 Rotating Scale holder does.

The 8665 scale holders incorporate our "squeeze" lock scale holder clamp.  This improved scale mounting clamp has a movable jaw which moves laterally from the side to firmly clamp the scale in place.  The scale holder will work with all of our old and new style scales, as well as all older Cubic Precision (K+E) scales.

The 8665 Fixed Scale holder comes in both English and metric units - see the table below for the effective lengths of each.  Order the desired item using the specified part number.
